White & Case contributed two chapters to the seventh edition of Global Arbitration Review's The Guide to Energy Arbitrations, which offers coherent and comprehensive coverage of the most common, difficult and unusual issues faced by energy companies in international arbitration.

In the chapter "Renewable energy construction under pressure: finance, design risk and ESG in arbitration", Anne Véronique Schlaepfer examines how delay, disruption and defects issues in complex construction projects intersect with financing structures, design risk and ESG considerations, and how these themes play out in arbitration proceedings involving renewable energy projects.

In the chapter "Force majeure in energy contracts: legal standards and practical considerations", Markus Burianski and Federico Parise Kuhnle analyze force majeure in long-term energy contracts across key legal systems and contractual frameworks. Drawing on their experience in major energy disputes, they provide a practical framework for assessing force majeure events, discuss demanding legal requirements such as control, foreseeability and avoidability, and offer guidance for both contract drafting and dispute strategy.
