About

White & Case is at the forefront of the global energy storage market and is committed to the long-term growth of technologies that support the Energy Transition.

As the global market for energy storage continues to grow rapidly, facilitating the move towards the decarbonisation of the energy markets, clients have trusted us to deliver some of the most complex and innovative battery storage projects to date worldwide, including advising on the original development and subsequent expansion of the world's largest lithium ion battery - 150MW/190MWh Hornsdale Power Reserve, South Australia.

Having advised clients across the value chain of the energy market for the last several decades means our lawyers are well positioned to provide insights into the opportunities around new energy technology.

Increased battery storage capacity can and is being encouraged in order to facilitate the move towards the decarbonisation of electricity generation and can contribute to greater resilience and efficiency of integrated grids. It can also provide solutions for local and off-grid users of electricity.

Our global team of energy lawyers work with sponsors, operators and financiers to meet their commercial objectives by advising on the entire life cycle of renewables assets, from early stage development, regulation, commercial contracts, construction & project financing through to structuring and executing mergers & acquisitions and disputes and arbitration.

We pride ourselves on creating deal structures that enable our clients to achieve commercial success even in challenging regulatory and market environments. Our strategic advice helps clients consider the various risks and mitigate these in a commercial manner, such as revenue streams, technology and construction risk and change in law risk.

What differentiates White & Case is our ability to advise a diverse group of clients across the entire battery storage supply chain globally.
