Global law firm White & Case LLP announced today that Laura McDaniels has joined the Firm’s Silicon Valley office as a partner in its Global Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Practice and Global Employment, Compensation & Benefits (ECB) practice.

"Laura is a talented lawyer who brings deep experience advising private and public companies on the compensation and benefits aspects of complex transactions," said John Reiss, Global Head of White & Case's M&A Practice. "We have reached record levels of M&A activity in the US during the first half of 2021. Adding Laura at a time when the Firm is experiencing a torrent of deals demonstrates our commitment to expanding our capabilities to best serve our clients."

For more than 20 years, McDaniels has advised clients at all stages of the life cycle on both day-to-day matters and transformative events. Having spent her entire career in Silicon Valley, she has deep experience working with emerging growth and pre-IPO companies and has extensive experience working with technology and life science companies. Prior to joining White & Case, McDaniels was a partner at Baker Botts in its Executive Compensation and Employee Benefits practice groups. Prior to Baker Botts, she spent more than ten years at Cooley as special counsel in its Compensation and Benefits practice.

"We are pleased to welcome Laura, who immediately bolsters our ECB capabilities, both in the California and global markets with her specialized skill set," said Henrik Patel, Global Head of White & Case’s Employment, Compensation & Benefits practice. "She offers clients, including C-suite executives and board members, the highest caliber of service for navigating complex ECB issues, as they pertain to mergers & acquisitions, spin-offs, joint ventures and other transactions."

"Adding Laura reinforces our dedication to building out our corporate capabilities and growing our presence in Silicon Valley," said Heather Burke, White & Case’s Silicon Valley Office Executive Partner.

McDaniels is the fifth partner to join White & Case’s M&A Practice in the US this year. She follows the additions of partners Scott Fryman, Thomas Christopher and James Jian Hu in New York and Taylor Pullins in Houston.

For the first half of 2021, White & Case ranked #1 by value for Global M&A, according to Mergermarket and Reuters and #1 by value in the Americas, according to Mergermarket for the same period.
