Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised a syndicate of global and domestic banks on the financing of Intera Renewables' acquisition of the under-construction 240MW/960MWh Summerfield Battery Energy Storage System (Summerfield BESS) in South Australia from Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP).

"This is the second BESS asset that Intera Renewables has introduced into its portfolio financing structure by way of a bolt on acquisition which was strongly supported by its lender group," said White & Case partner Joel Rennie, who led the Firm's deal team. "The financing of this construction asset provides further evidence of how portfolio platforms can efficiently support the capex requirements of the renewables market and demonstrates the continued depth of lender appetite for high quality Australian energy transition assets."

The project has a long term offtake in place with Origin Energy with commercial operations scheduled to commence in late 2026. The financing was provided by a syndicate of banks including ANZ, Bank of China, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Deutsche Bank, ICBC, ING and Westpac.

The White & Case team in Sydney that advised on the transaction was led by partner Joel Rennie and included partner Caroline Sherrell and associates Laurence Judges, Siqi Chen and Shane Dunleavy.
