Biography

Overview

Jason is an International Trade counsel in the Washington, DC office. He advises clients on complex regulatory matters arising under the jurisdiction of the US Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), the US Department of State's Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) and the US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

Jason assists clients with a wide range of business-critical export compliance issues, such as conducting jurisdiction and classification analysis under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), advising on cross-border transactions and international supply chain issues, applying for export licenses, analyzing the applicability of license exceptions and exemptions, advising on technical data transfers, and designing and implementing compliance programs and training.

On the transactional side, Jason advises on export controls and sanctions compliance due diligence related to mergers, acquisitions, and other financial transactions.

Jason also has experience advising clients on responding to inquiries from government regulators and enforcement agencies, conducting internal investigations, and filing voluntary self-disclosures to BIS, DDTC, and OFAC.

Prior to joining White & Case, Jason was an assistant general counsel specializing in trade compliance at a Fortune 100 industrial technology company operating in the aerospace, defense, and oil & gas industries.
