Biography
Katya El Tayeb is a litigation law clerk based in the Firm's New York office, where she focuses on complex international disputes and antitrust litigation in U.S. federal courts.
Katya has extensive experience defending financial institutions as well as foreign sovereigns and their state-owned entities in actions brought under the Anti-Terrorism Act, the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act (FSIA), and the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act. Katya also has significant experience on antitrust matters, including complex litigation, class actions, government investigations, and related counselling, for diverse clients across pharmaceuticals & healthcare, technology manufacturing, food & beverage, automotives, and financial services.
Katya has been a core member of teams supporting clients at virtually every stage of litigation and has experience with drafting motions to dismiss, fact and expert discovery, offensive and defensive depositions, managing voluminous e-discovery projects, and summary judgment.
Katya also maintains an active pro bono practice focused on criminal justice, prisoners' rights, and labor trafficking.
Katya attended the University of Chicago Law School as the Earl B. Dickerson Scholarship Recipient and graduated with Pro Bono Honors. Katya was also a member of the University of Chicago Global Human Rights Clinic, where she worked with clients on international and domestic disputes and advocacy efforts.
