Global law firm White & Case LLP won the "Cross-Border Disputes" category at this year's Florida Legal Awards 2026, held last night in Miami.

The awards, which are run by Law.com, honor "the individuals and teams who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation and commitment to excellence across a wide array of practice areas." The "Cross-Border Disputes" category recognizes law firms with a Florida presence that handle complex international litigation.

The Firm's win recognizes the following courtroom victories last year:

  • Dismissal of US$150 million arbitral award for Panamanian client

White & Case represented a Panamanian client, in a US$150 million cross-border dispute in the Southern District of Florida to enforce an arbitral award arising from a Panamanian contract. The court dismissed the case for lack of personal jurisdiction before reaching the merits of the awards. We represented the defendant at the district court and continue to represent the client in the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

  • Upholding US$131 million RICO judgment for Republic of Trinidad and Tobago

White & Case represented the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in three appeals in the Third District Court of Appeal, securing an appellate victory to uphold a US$131 million judgment—and attorneys' fees and costs—in a complex RICO case that resulted in a favorable jury verdict after a four-week trial.

  • Multimillion-dollar jury verdict for American Clinical Solutions

White & Case represented American Clinical Solutions in a lawsuit against Blue Cross Blue Shield of Puerto Rico. The lawsuit stems from the insurer's failure to pay for medically necessary diagnostic services ordered by in-network Puerto Rico-based physicians. White & Case took on the case after ten years of litigation and secured a jury trial victory within nine months.

  • Landmark settlement for Brazilian manufacturer

White & Case represented a Brazilian pulp manufacturer in a contract dispute in the Southern District of Florida regarding a failed multibillion-dollar purchase-and-sale transaction. After the deal soured, the buyer filed an arbitration claim in Brazil. An arbitration panel issued an award. When the buyer was unable to confirm the award in a Brazilian court, the counterparty filed a new action in the US. The Firm contested service of process and personal jurisdiction, resulting in a landmark settlement.

  • Dismissal of multiple product liability lawsuits

White & Case represented a global cosmetics manufacturer, with multiple copycat talc product liability lawsuits in Broward County, Florida. We obtained dismissal of all six lawsuits and continue to serve as national trial counsel in more than 60 cases across the country.

  • Securing US$15 million final judgment in ICDR arbitration

White & Case represented a litigation trust created during the bankruptcy of the Celsius cryptocurrency platform, an entity with a UK parent company, in obtaining a US$15 million final judgment in a New York-based International Centre for Dispute resolution arbitration, in which the trust brought claims against the subsidiaries of an Australian company.
