Parallel pressure: Private actors escalate risk of DOJ trade enforcement across industries

The article highlights that private parties are now more empowered and incentivized to report trade fraud through mechanisms including the False Claims Act, the Corporate Whistleblower Awards Pilot Program and the Enforce and Protect Act. This dual pressure from government enforcement and private reporting significantly increases the risk of disruptive investigations and enforcement actions for importers, underscoring the need for companies to implement strong compliance programs, internal audits, and confidential reporting channels to proactively identify and address potential violations.
