Global law firm White & Case LLP is continuing to expand its Global Tax Practice and Investment Funds Practice with the addition of David Makso as a partner in New York.
"International sponsor and corporate clients rely on our Tax Practice to provide sophisticated and commercial advice on their most complex cross-border transactions," said White & Case Chair Heather McDevitt. "David will work across many of our Firm's most transformative matters, supporting clients across disciplines and markets wherever they deploy capital."
David's practice focuses on the tax aspects of fund formation matters. David also has extensive experience providing counsel on tax issues arising in capital markets, leveraged finance and project finance transactions, as well as general inbound and outbound tax structuring.
"Our clients are navigating a more complex environment for fund formation, with tax considerations playing an increasingly central role," said the Firm's Global Head of Tax Sang I. Ji. "David is an outstanding practitioner with strong technical skills and deep market knowledge. His arrival reunites him with London-based partners Arun Birla and Jiten Tank, with whom he had previously worked for 17 years. Together, this group will be instrumental in delivering seamless, high-quality tax fund formation capabilities across key markets."
David joins White & Case from Foley & Lardner, where he was a partner. Prior to this, he was a partner at Paul Hastings for more than six years.
White & Case's Global Tax Practice has further expanded since the beginning of 2025, with the additions of partners Alejandro Santoyo in Mexico City; Arun Birla and Jiten Tank in London; Cyril Valentin in Paris; Kevin Spencer in Washington, DC; and Catherine Hill in London.
