Global law firm White & Case LLP has expanded its Global Tax Practice with the addition of Hagai Zaifman as a new partner in New York. Zaifman will work closely with the Firm's Global Project Development and Finance Practice and Global Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Practice.

"Hagai is an experienced transaction-focused tax lawyer with a particular strength in energy matters," said John Reiss, White & Case's Global Head of M&A. "Adding Hagai to our strong Tax Practice demonstrates our commitment to our energy clients and the overall growth of our M&A Practice."

Zaifman comes to White & Case from General Electric Capital (GE) where he served in several tax leadership roles, and most recently as the Tax Director at GE Energy Financial Services (GE EFS). In this role, he led the GE EFS tax team in underwriting, managing and disposing of its US$10+ billion debt and equity portfolio of US and foreign wind and solar projects. Prior to joining GE, he practiced tax for several years in a NY-based global law firm.

Zaifman has a strong background in project finance, asset finance and leasing transactions, with an emphasis on financing and structuring US renewable energy projects.

Zaifman will advise clients on renewable energy, asset finance, project finance, infrastructure transactions and M&A, with a particular focus on complex partnership structures and transactions involving energy tax credits.

"Our Global Tax Practice continues to be very busy—especially in the energy sector," said Kim Boylan, Head of White & Case's Global Tax Practice. "Hagai has a unique skill set that will support the needs of our clients’ complex transactions."
