Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised bluu unit GmbH on its acquisition of Space Engineering, a UK provider of refrigeration, air conditioning, heating, ventilation, and mechanical and electrical solutions for blue-chip customers, headquartered in Bristol.

Through the acquisition, bluu unit continues its international growth strategy, and enters the UK market following its expansion into Ireland and Switzerland. Space Engineering is intended to serve as the anchor for bluu unit's future UK platform. The acquisition also includes Space Engineering Services KFT, Space Engineering's Hungarian subsidiary, which provides bluu unit with a standalone local service platform in Hungary.

Space Engineering employs approximately 400 people and generates revenue of approximately £100 million. The acquisition adds in-house manufacturing expertise in technologies using natural refrigerants to its capabilities for the first time, while ensuring continuity for customers and employees, and supporting its further expansion in the UK.

The transaction, the details of which have not been disclosed, is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The White & Case team that advised on the transaction was led by partners Tomislav Vrabec (Frankfurt) and Joshua Crawley (London), and included partners Jessica Kemp, Tabitha Al-Mahdawie (both in London) and Thilo Wienke (Düsseldorf), counsel Samuel Marriott (London) and Julian Schwanebeck (Frankfurt), and associates Mirabel Anosike, Alexandra Street, Ellen Ronayne, Lucy Wootton (all in London), Johannes Wiehe (Düsseldorf), Daniel Stübbe, Thomas Kolb and Sofia Zafiriou (all in Frankfurt).
