Global law firm White & Case LLP has expanded with the addition of Rubina (Rubi) Ali as a partner in its Global Capital Markets Practice, Derivatives Practice and Global Financial Institutions Industry Group in New York.
"We're seeing high demand from the structured credit market for tailored financial instruments," said White & Case Chair Heather McDevitt. "Turning this type of complexity into our clients' competitive advantage is what our Firm is built for. Rubi's strong cross-border experience will be key to our team providing best-in-class advice on these sophisticated products."
Ali advises financial institutions, investment funds and corporations on derivatives and fixed-income transactions. She has experience in a variety of complex cross-border deal structures, including deal contingent hedges, risk participation agreements, rate caps, master repurchase agreements and hedging structures. She also advises on the treatment of derivatives under bankruptcy and insolvency laws.
"Rubi has excellent derivatives and fixed-income experience," said White & Case Co-Head of the Global Capital Markets Practice John Vetterli. "As we continue to see the market for structured credit grow in volume and complexity, her arrival further positions us to provide cutting-edge solutions on the full range of capital market matters, globally."
Ali joins White & Case from another law firm, where she was an of-counsel. Prior to this, she was a vice president and senior counsel for the Fixed Income Derivatives Group in the Global Markets Division at Goldman Sachs. She was also formerly a vice president at Barclays.
Ali added: "White & Case has an exceptional capital markets practice. I'm excited to collaborate with my new colleagues across the Firm's global platform, and expand its client relationships in the fixed-income derivatives space."
