Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Amp Energy (Amp) on the establishment of the Renewable Energy Hub of South Australia, a portfolio of large scale integrated Solar PV, Wind and Battery Energy Storage (BESS) assets in South Australia, Australia.

"The establishment of the Renewable Energy Hub is a transformative transaction for Amp's Australian business and presents it with an exciting development pipeline across a number of renewable technologies," said White & Case partner Joel Rennie, who led the Firm's deal team.

The portfolio, which Amp acquired from Australian renewable energy consultants EPS Energy, is made up of three large solar PV projects totaling more than 1,300MW of solar capacity with up to 540MW of BESS capacity, and will feed a planned new green hydrogen hub at Port Spencer. The three projects include the 636MW Robertson solar project, the 336MW Bungama project, and the 388MW Yoorndoo Ilga project.

The Renewable Energy Hub of South Australia is viewed as fundamental in integrating renewable energy storage assets and building capacity in a state which is undergoing a rapid energy transition, and it has been warmly welcomed by the South Australian government.

The transaction follows White & Case advising Amp on its acquisition and project financing of the Molong Solar Farm and the acquisition of the Hillston Solar Farm.

The White & Case team that advised on the transaction was led by partner Joel Rennie (Sydney), with support from local partner Mark Montag (Sydney), counsel Andrea Reeves (Melbourne) and associates Stephen Carlton, Kirsten Sugden and Shafinas Djuanda (all Melbourne).
