Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised a club of eight commercial banks and international financial institutions on the up-to-€331 million financing of the construction of the 269MW second phase of the Vifor wind farm in Romania.
The wind farm is under development by Actis platform Rezolv Energy, following the successful completion of the financing of the first phase in 2024. With a total capacity of 461 MW, the Vifor project will be, once fully operational, one of Europe's largest onshore wind farms, supplying clean energy to more than 700,000 households.
"Phase two of the financing followed the pattern of the first; characterized by a tight schedule to meet an ambitious financial close date, with project agreement negotiations running in parallel with the financing," said White & Case partner Jonathan Weinberg, who led the Firm's deal team. "Once again, discipline, focus and coordination across the team ensured its success. Of note is the fact that the phase two offtake will be via the new Romanian CfD programme, employing the extensive experience of White & Case in similar regulatory regimes elsewhere, and requiring close cooperation with Romanian counsel Bondoc si Asociatii."
The White & Case team which advised on the transaction was led by partner Jonathan Weinberg (Prague) and included local partners Radek Kraus and David Wilhelm (both Prague), counsel Lis Blunsdon (London) and associates Vinh Ngo The, Magdaléna Lajdová and Martin Voříšek (all Prague).
