Global law firm White & Case LLP has been named a pro bono "Leading Light" in Mexico by Latin Lawyer. The Leading Lights program, now in its 17th year, recognizes "the law firms making a noteworthy contribution to strengthening a culture of pro bono in Latin America."

This honor underscores the Firm's continued commitment to pro bono in the region. Highlights from our pro bono work in Mexico in 2025 include:

  • Collaborating with Fundación Appleseed México to provide legal input for a guide aimed at Mexican immigrants in the United States who may face deportation, ensuring accessible and accurate information for individuals in vulnerable situations.
  • Working with APyRE to assist families in filing and completing guardianship proceedings before the probate court, and supporting guardians and curators with their annual court-mandated reports, providing essential legal protections for persons with disabilities.
  • Partnering with Fundación Appleseed México on an initiative assessing the feasibility of Mexican immigrants retiring from the United States receiving social security benefits in Mexico, contributing legal analysis to support potential policy reforms.

Winners are chosen based on firms' survey answers, feedback from clearing houses and the Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice, measurable year-to-year improvements in firms' pro bono commitments, and further independent research.
