White & Case wins for five matters at Latin Lawyer “Deal of the Year” Awards

This year's Latin Lawyer "Deal of the Year" Awards recognized global law firm White & Case LLP for its involvement in five of the 11 winning deals, which spanned multiple practice areas. The Firm scored more awards for its transactions and disputes in Latin America than any other global law firm at the awards ceremony.

Capital Markets Deal of the Year: Brazil privatizes Eletrobras 

White & Case advised the underwriters on a US$6.9 billion offering by Brazilian development bank BNDES to reduce its share in Eletrobras – the country's largest privatization in two decades.

Banking & Finance Deal of the Year: Phoenix Tower repackages loans 

White & Case advised Scotiabank on the restructuring of several loans held by U.S. and Latin American subsidiaries of telecoms group Phoenix Tower International into a single US$2 billion facility.

Project Finance: Infrastructure Deal of the Year: Peruvian port concessionaire gets novel IDB Invest financing 

White & Case advised in a first-of-its-kind financing, advising Peruvian port concessionaire Salaverry Terminal Internacional in raising US$115 million through a private placement of an A/B bond.

Disputes Deal of the Year: Rutas de Lima vs the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima

White & Case successfully advised the claimant in an UNCITRAL arbitration that protected the validity of a long-term toll road concession contract and obtained an award of damages and costs.

Restructuring Deal of the Year: LATAM Airlines exits Chapter 11 

White & Case advised in the US$16 billion, cross-border restructuring of LATAM Airlines; the Firm advised both the ad hoc LATAM bondholders and lender Oaktree Capital Management.
