Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised The Carlyle Group on its acquisition of Tescan Orsay Holding (Tescan), a leading manufacturer of electron microscopes and other high-tech scientific instruments, headquartered in the Czech Republic.

"This is another excellent example of White & Case's expertise advising financial sponsors on complex cross-border transactions in the technology space," said White & Case partner Ken Barry, who co-led the Firm's deal team.

Formed in 2013, Tescan operates from 14 sites across the world, including two production facilities in Brno, Czech Republic, and Fuveau, France, which are responsible for its end-to-end in-house production, and has over 750 employees globally. Carlyle's investment will support Tescan's growth plan through the development of new products and further internationalising of the business.

The White & Case team which advised on the transaction was led by partners Ken Barry and Will Summers (both London), and included partners Jonathan Weinberg, (Prague), Xavier Petet, Estelle Philippi, Valerie Menard (all Paris), Will Smith (London) and Thomas Glauden (Luxembourg), local partner Jan Jakoubek, counsel Jan Parik (both Prague) and associates Michael Skouras, Lucy Carr, Charlotte Deans (all London), Lukas Pavlik, Monika Sedlackova, Katerina Hudeckova, (all Prague), Gregoire Lecoquierre, Sarah Kouchad and Anais Caspar (all Paris).
