Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised CM Life Sciences, a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) on its agreement to combine with Sema4, a patient-centered health intelligence company leveraging AI and machine learning to derive data-driven insights.

Prior to the business combination, CM Life Sciences was founded to take advantage of a dynamic yet fragmented life sciences sector buoyed by innovation consisting of many under-resourced and under-scaled companies. Significant and under-appreciated opportunities for consolidation were ready for engagement by a team versed in current trends and industry themes, and who could bring together the strongest of the new companies and management teams to capitalize on near- and far-term opportunities.

The White & Case team that advised on the transaction was led by partners Matthew Kautz, Joel Rubinstein, Colin Diamond and Steven Gee, and included partners Henrik Patel, Scott Weingaertner and Andres Liivak; associates Patrick Mock, Joseph Chung, Joanna Heinz, Peter Shelburne and Kelly Funderburk, all in New York; associates Adam Arnett and Eric Clamage in Chicago; partner Rebecca Farrington, counsel Paul Pittman and associates Kyle Levenberg and Daniela Huerta Garcia, all in Washington, DC, and associate Ted Seeger in Houston.
