Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised the lenders, comprising Bangkok Bank, Bank of Ayudhya, HSBC, KASIKORNBANK, Mizuho, Natixis CIB, Siam Commercial Bank, SMBC and Standard Chartered, on the US$880 million green loan financing for the development and construction of Digital Edge and B.Grimm Power's joint venture 100 MW BKK Campus data center in Chonburi, Thailand.
"The BKK Campus financing sets a new benchmark for data center project finance in Thailand - in deal size, lender depth and the sophistication of its green loan structuring," said White & Case partner Tim Fourteau, who led the Firm's deal team. "It is a clear signal that sustainability-linked financing for digital infrastructure has reached genuine market maturity across Asia-Pacific, with green loan structures now commanding deep support from both domestic and international lenders."
Structured under Digital Edge's Green Financing Framework in support of the company's 2030 carbon neutrality target, the financing represents a further step in Digital Edge's US$1 billion joint venture investment program with B.Grimm Power and takes the company's total green funding in the region to more than US$2 billion.
The transaction is the largest data center project financing closed in Thailand to date and the third in a series of green loan deals by Digital Edge in Asia-Pacific that have each set national records, following earlier transactions in South Korea and Indonesia.
The BKK Campus is located within Thailand's Eastern Economic Corridor and is designed to support AI and data-intensive workloads at scale. The project's sustainability features include an annualized power usage effectiveness (PUE) target of 1.25, LEED Silver certification on track for achievement, hybrid closed-loop cooling towers and renewable-ready infrastructure. Construction will be phased, with the first building (BKK1) scheduled for service readiness by Q4 2026, and the second building (BKK2) to follow in Q2 2027.
The White & Case team which advised on the transaction was led by partner Tim Fourteau (Tokyo) and senior associate Maxine Ma (Tokyo), and included partner Charles McConnell (Singapore), Saori Takahashi (Tokyo) and Lenvin Tan (Singapore).
