White & Case Advises Pernod Ricard on Its New Investment in Sovereign Brands
1 min read
Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Pernod Ricard on its acquisition of an additional minority stake in Sovereign Brands' portfolio of super premium wine and spirits brands.
The additional investment will strengthen the already successful and ambitious long-term partnership initiated in September 2021. At the closing of the transaction, Pernod Ricard will fully consolidate Sovereign Brands in its financial statements due to various call options through which Pernod Ricard may look to further increase its stake in the partnership in the future. The completion of the transaction, which is expected in November 2022, remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
White & Case had already advised Pernod Ricard in July 2020 on its investment in Mezcal Ojo de Tigre.
The White & Case team was led by M&A partners Frank Lupinacci (New York) and Saam Golshani (Paris). The team also included M&A counsel Denise Mazzeo, and associates Morgan Somerset, Pankti Vora, Norah Arafeh and Catherine McNally (all in New York); Technology Transactions partner Arlene Arin Hahn and associate Mark Kim (both in New York); Tax counsel Michael Rodgers (Houston); Employment, Compensation & Benefits partner Tal Marnin and associate Peter Shelburne (both in New York); and Antitrust partner Strati Sakellariou-Witt (Brussels).
