Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Société Nationale d'Opérations Pétrolières de la Côte d'Ivoire (Petroci) on the conclusion of agreements with Côte d'Ivoire Energies (CI-Energies) and EXMAR for the development of a Floating Storage & Regasification Unit (FSRU) at the Port of Abidjan in Côte d'Ivoire.
The White & Case team worked jointly with MB Avocats, led by its Managing Partner, Michel Bayeron.
Under these agreements, EXMAR will provide, under a 10-year lease, a 152,000 m³ and 250 standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) the supply, operation and maintenance of the FSRU.
Petroci, Côte d'Ivoire's national oil company, will source LNG from the international market and, from Q3 2027, import it through EXMAR's FSRU. The regasified LNG will then be delivered to CI-Energies to produce electricity.
This project represents a strategic energy infrastructure investment for Côte d'Ivoire and a key enabler that, together with domestic natural gas production, will allow Côte d'Ivoire and its power sector to secure natural gas availability, thereby fostering the country's energy production and economic growth.
