White & Case Receives Five Honors as Innovative Law Firm
The Financial Times Innovative Lawyers North America 2017 report recognized White & Case as a top innovator in five categories. The report's results were derived from interviews with more than 600 clients, senior lawyers, executives and experts, according to the Financial Times.
White & Case was honored in the following categories:
"Standout" in the Accessing New Markets & Capital category
White & Case represented Antares Capital, the world's largest middle-market lender, to create a flexible collateralized loan obligation (CLO) platform. The US$2.1 billion platform is the largest created since the financial crisis, and integrates two types of CLO platforms.
"Highly Commended" in the Managing Complexity & Scale category
White & Case represented the senior lenders and initial fixed-rate note purchaser in the project financing of Transmisora Eléctrica del Norte's 600km power transmission line in Chile, which will serve to unify the country's two principal grids.
"Commended" in the Rule of Law and Access to Justice category
White & Case successfully argued that the Oaxaca state teachers' union objection to legislative changes in Mexico, requiring teachers to provide their qualifications for evaluation, was a violation of collective human rights to education. This has led to a new definition of the right to access to education.
"Commended" in the Enabling Business Growth category
White & Case created a blueprint for borrowers in bankruptcy through its advice to Deutsche Bank on the closing of US$4.25 billion in senior secured debtor-in-possession "roll to exit" credit facilities used to refinance Texas Competitive Electric Holdings.
"Commended" in the Managing & Developing Talent category
A new internal communications strategy has increased employee engagement by providing regular updates to staff on the development and implementation of the Firm’s strategy across the business. This approach includes various online tools, regular global strategy forums with the opportunity to ask questions, and buy-in from the Firm's leadership.
