EMEA Finance magazine named White & Case "Best Law Firm" at the emeafinance Middle East Banking Awards 2016 ceremony in Dubai on March 1. The awards recognize "the many accomplishments and achievements of the region's commercial and investment banks, Islamic banks, private banks, asset managers and brokers, and leading law firms," according to EMEA Finance.

In its announcement of White & Case's achievement, EMEA Finance observed: "The firm's Middle East experience stretches back six decades when it began providing services to clients in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia…. The firm demonstrated its all-around excellence and capabilities by supporting some of the region's most important deals. A few key transactions that it provided legal advice on, include: advising Barwa Real Estate Company on its US$444mn and US$157mn Sharia-compliant financings, advising Qatar Real Estate Investment Company in connection with its US$470mn Sharia-compliant financings, and advising six export credit agencies—Atradius DSB, Euler Hermes, K-Exim, K-Sure, SACE and UKEF—and a syndication of nineteen international and regional banks in connection with the development and financing for the US$6.4bn Liwa Plastic Industries Complex in Oman. The latter transaction will be one of the largest project financings in the region to reach financial close in 2016, with US$3.8 billion committed senior debt."

The magazine concluded, "These days it is good to have a 'deep bench' of talent to draw from, and in the Middle East, White & Case's legal team provides the local expertise, alongside global understanding, to get deals done."
