White & Case won the "Law Firm of the Year" award for the Czech Republic and Hungary at the International Financial Law Review (IFLR) Annual European Awards, held in London on April 3.
The Firm also acted on the Rosneft/TNK-BP transaction, which IFLR named "M&A Deal of the Year". We represented Alfa-Access-Renova, the Russian consortium, on the US$28 billion sale of its 50 percent stake in TNK-BP, a Russian-based integrated oil company, engaged in the exploration, production, refining, marketing, sale and trading of oil and gas properties, to Rosneft, an oil and gas exploration and production company listed in Russia.
The Firm also advised on IFLR's "High Yield Deal of the Year" — Emma Delta Finance's high yield issuance of £250 million 8.5% first lien senior secured notes due 2017 and €150 million 12% second lien senior secured notes due 2017. The proceeds of the offering were used to fund the acquisition of a controlling stake (33%) in Hellenic Football Prognostics Organisation S.A. (OPAP), the leading gaming company in Greece. This stake was acquired by Emma Delta Hellenic Holdings Limited from the Government of Greece for approximately €650 million. We acted for Crestbridge Corporate Trustees Limited, in its capacity as notes trustee for the first and second lien senior secured notes issued and as English and Cypriot security trustee.
