White & Case Partner Bijal Vakil (Silicon Valley) has been named a recipient of the 2020 Law360 Distinguished Legal Writing Award, formerly known as the Burton Award, which recognizes outstanding legal writing published in the prior year. Only 30 winning articles were selected from among entries submitted by the 1,000 largest law firms in the United States.
Vakil was honored for his article "Congress Attempts to Remove Ambiguity in Favor of Patent Holders," published by Intellectual Property & Technology Law Journal, September 2019.
The awards are run in association with the Library of Congress, presented by lead sponsor Law360 and co-sponsored by the American Bar Association. Winners were selected by judges and law school professors, including professors from from Harvard Law School, Stanford Law School and UC Berkeley Law School. The award will be formally presented at a ceremony on June 8 in Washington, DC.
A partner in White & Case's Americas Competition and Intellectual Property practices, Vakil has a successful track record litigating complex patent cases in district courts, the International Trade Commission and before the Federal Circuit. His practice covers a wide range of technologies, including computer software, semiconductors, e-commerce, social media, payments, autonomous vehicles, consumer electronics and telecommunications.
