White & Case advises Wärtsilä Corporation on global Energy Storage joint venture

Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Wärtsilä Corporation on a 50/50 joint venture with German engineering company RCT Solutions GmbH (RCT Solutions) for Wärtsilä's global Energy Storage business.

The joint venture will comprise Wärtsilä's Energy Storage business, with approximately 480 employees globally and net sales of €694 million. Closing of the transaction is expected in the third quarter of 2026 and is subject to regulatory and other customary conditions and approvals.

Wärtsilä's Energy Storage business supports the decarbonisation of the energy market by delivering utility-scale integrated battery energy storage systems (BESS).

Wärtsilä is a global leader in innovative technologies and lifecycle solutions for the marine and energy industries. With total net sales of €6.9 billion, Wärtsilä is listed on Nasdaq Helsinki.

RCT Solutions is a German engineering company founded in 2012 with strong international expertise in solar and battery energy storage systems. RCT Solutions brings market knowhow, execution capability and global supply chain expertise as well as an opportunity for vertical integration through an existing integrated BESS manufacturing initiative in the USA.
