Jun Hee Kim Joins White & Case as a New Partner in Seoul

Global law firm White & Case LLP has expanded its international arbitration capabilities in Asia-Pacific with the arrival of new partner Jun Hee Kim, who will join the Seoul office.

"Jun Hee is a distinguished lawyer with considerable experience of international arbitration, and is well known and respected in the Korean market," said White & Case's Global Head of International Arbitration, Paul Friedland. "Korea is a growing market in international arbitration, and this move solidifies our position as the world's top arbitration practice."

Kim arrives from Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd, where he was International General Counsel & Executive Vice President. His arrival supports the Firm's 2020 strategy focus on growth in disputes and he joins the Global International Arbitration Practice and the existing Asia-Pacific arbitration team, with lawyers based in Hong Kong, Seoul and Singapore. Kim brings broad experience advising on international arbitrations in Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America and North America, as well as advising clients in the construction, engineering, intellectual property, technology and shipping sectors. He will be based in Seoul following approval as a Foreign Legal Consultant from the Korean Ministry of Justice.

"Jun Hee will play an important role in meeting increased demand for arbitrations in Korea involving some of the largest shipbuilders and construction companies in Asia-Pacific," said White & Case partner James K. Lee, office executive partner in Seoul. "Jun Hee is an outstanding lawyer with a high profile in the international arbitration community in Asia-Pacific and strong links with the Korean business community."

Since establishing its Korea practice more than 20 years ago, White & Case opened an office in Seoul in 2015, enabling the Firm to better support long standing project finance clients, as well as broadening its role advising on mergers & acquisitions, private equity, commercial litigation and international arbitration matters.
