Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised African electric vehicle platform Spiro on its US$215 million equity fundraising from major institutional investors, including Equitane and Impact Fund Denmark, to support the scale up of electric mobility and energy infrastructure in Africa.
Already operating across seven countries (Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon), Spiro has deployed more than 100,000 electric motorcycles and 2,500 battery-swapping stations. The transaction positions Spiro among the continent's leading clean infrastructure platforms and will accelerate the expansion of its battery-swapping network, industrial footprint and next-generation electric vehicle infrastructure across high-growth African markets such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Ethiopia.
The White & Case team in Paris which advised on the transaction was led by partner Marc Petitier and included partners Alexandre Jaurett and Clara Hainsdorf and associates Martin Berton, Yeram Kim, Serena Porhel, Lucas Engrand, Cécilia Grosjean, Enzo Antonucci and Laëtitia Coguic.
