Global law firm White & Case LLP has added Germany's leading energy law team with the arrival in its Düsseldorf office of partners Peter Rosin and Thomas Burmeister.
"The addition of Peter and Thomas, both top tier lawyers, is an unprecedented opportunity for White & Case in the German market," said New York-based White & Case partner John Reiss, Head of the Global Mergers & Acquisitions Practice.
"It supports our long-standing ambition to be a leading energy law firm in Western Europe, and is a very clear demonstration of our ongoing strategic investment in key practice areas, including M&A. Their arrival opens exciting opportunities to build on the synergies that already exist between the Firm's energy, oil & gas and infrastructure practices across EMEA and worldwide."
Rosin and Burmeister join the Firm's Global Mergers & Acquisitions Practice from Clifford Chance, where Rosin was Head of Global Power and Head of the German Energy Group, and Burmeister was Co-Head of Global Renewables Group and Co-Head of the German Energy Group. They advise utilities, infrastructure funds and financial institutions and their practices are focused on energy-related transactions, energy law and all regulatory aspects of the energy sector value chain including contract law, grid regulation and renewables. Rosin brings more than 20 years of experience, including several years as head of one of the legal departments at European power company RWE, and Burmeister arrives with more than 13 years of experience.
"Peter and Thomas enjoy a unique market position and have an outstanding reputation for both transactional and regulatory work," said Berlin-based White & Case partner Jörg Kraffel, Regional Section Head, EMEA M&A/Corporate.
"Our clients will benefit from their substantial knowledge of the energy industry as well as their legal skills and commercial acumen at a time of uncertainty for German utilities, with restructurings expected in the coming years."
