Global law firm White & Case LLP advised GMR Infrastructure Limited and GMR Energy Limited (GEL) in a proposed US$300 million primary capital investment by Tenaga Nasional Berhad, the largest electricity utility company in Malaysia, for a 30 percent equity stake in a select portfolio of GEL assets.
A part of the GMR Group, one of the largest diversified infrastructure conglomerates in India, GEL owns assets with an operating capacity of more than 4,200 megawatts and a balanced fuel mix of coal and gas, as well as renewable sources of hydro, wind and solar energy.
The transaction, which is expected to close in the second half of 2016, is subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.
