Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Anil Chalamalasetty and Mahesh Kolli, the founders of Greenko Energy Holdings, on a US$230 million equity fundraising.
Greenko Energy is a leading owner and operator of renewable energy assets in India with a diversified portfolio of more than 1,000 MW of wind and hydro assets. The funding is being provided by an affiliate of Singapore's sovereign wealth fund GIC, which will invest US$80 million, and an entity that is wholly-owned by the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, which is investing the remaining US$150 million.
"White & Case advised Anil and Mahesh when Greenko was taken private during 2015," said White & Case partner Nandan Nelivigi, who leads the Firm's India practice. "Our India practice is working with the founders as they build a leading renewable energy platform and prepare it to capitalize on the enormous opportunities that are emerging in India."
The White & Case team that advised on the transaction was led by partners John Cunningham (London) and Nandan Nelivigi (New York), and included partner Peita Menon and associates Tom Cambidge, Edward Higbee and Laura Hoyland (all London).
