Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised the Republic of Bulgaria in relation to its €950 million, 4.25 per cent, bond issue. This was the first international bond issue by Bulgaria since 2002 and represents its return to the international capital markets.
"Despite the continued market volatility, this successful placement highlights Bulgaria's strong market appeal," said Stuart Matty, partner and Global Head of Capital Markets at White & Case. "It is also a testament to our long standing relationship with the Republic that we continue to represent them in a wide range of matters and have acted as their international counsel on every international securities offering to date, including their Brady Bonds issued in 1994 and the country's debut Eurobond issued in 2001."
White & Case has extensive sovereign experience, having worked with more than 50 sovereign nations over the past 30 years. In Central and Eastern Europe in particular the Firm has advised on capital markets transactions for a number of sovereigns in addition to Bulgaria, including Albania, Belarus, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Serbia and the Slovak Republic.
