White & Case Strengthens Private Equity Sponsor Capabilities with Addition of New Banking Partner

Global law firm White & Case LLP has added further strength to its UK banking practice and intensified its focus on private equity sponsors with the arrival of new partner Martin Forbes in the London office.

"With the addition of Martin, a finance lawyer with a career built on advising private equity sponsors, White & Case is continuing to build its already strong UK bank finance practice," said White & Case partner Eric Berg, Global Banking Practice Leader. "Following the recent arrival of new banking partner Colin Harley, who also focuses on advising borrower-side clients, it further demonstrates our commitment to developing a leading pan-European, cross-border private equity practice based in London."

Forbes, who joins the Firm's Global Banking practice, focuses primarily on advising private equity sponsors, their portfolio companies, other borrowers and alternative capital providers. He joins from Clifford Chance and brings nearly 12 years of experience.

"Martin is a committed lawyer with excellent technical skills, strong client relationships and a highly credible track record," said White & Case partner Lee Cullinane, Regional Section Head, EMEA Banking. "The additional borrower-side focus he brings to the Firm will help ensure our clients benefit from our leading US/European leveraged finance product platform, which combines sophisticated finance support with the English, US and local law capability already provided by the Firm in all the major jurisdictions in which private equity firms invest or raise finance."

Over the past year White & Case has expanded its EMEA private equity practice with the addition of partners Ian Bagshaw, Richard Youle and Ross Allardice in the London office. Their arrivals have been augmented by the recent additions of equity capital markets partner Inigo Esteve and banking partner Colin Harley.

Since the beginning of 2014 the Firm's strong flow of private equity-related work has included advising Polish mobile telecoms operator Play on its inaugural €870 million high yield bond issue, Innovia Group on its debut floating rate high yield bond issue, Avast Software on its sale of a significant minority stake to CVC Capital Partners, Mid Europa Partners on the sale of T-Mobile Czech Republic to Deutsche Telekom, DX (Group) plc's IPO and admission to the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange, the acquisition of ASK Chemicals GmbH by affiliates of Rhône Capital LLC, the acquisition of the Innovia Group by Arle Capital Partners and HgCapital on its sale of interests and re-investment in Visma Group Holdings.
