China Business Law Journal has named two transactions on which White & Case advised among its “Deals of the Year” for work performed in 2019.
In selecting the winning deals, the editors of China Business Law Journal attached “most importance to the overall significance, complexity and innovative nature of the deals and cases, while also taking into account the deal size and broader interests,” according to the journal.

Overseas Deal, M&A, Energy: China Yangtze Power acquires Luz Del Sur
White & Case advised Sempra Energy on the completion of the sale of its Peruvian businesses, generating approximately US$3.59 billion in total cash proceeds, subject to post-closing adjustments. The sale to China Yangtze Power International (Hongkong) Co., Ltd. includes Sempra Energy's 83.6 percent stake in Luz del Sur S.A.A., as well as Tecsur S.A. and Inland Energy S.A.C. Overseas M&A, Belt & Road, Power Industry: State Grid acquires Chilquinta Energía
White & Case advised Sempra Energy on an agreement to sell its equity interests in its Chilean businesses, including its 100 percent stake in Chilquinta Energía S.A., to State Grid International Development Ltd. Sempra Energy's interests will be sold for US$2.23 billion in cash, subject to adjustments for working capital, net indebtedness and other adjustments. For more information, see here.
