JUVE Names White & Case "Law Firm of the Year 2011" in Germany
White & Case was named "Law Firm of the Year 2011" by Germany's most influential legal journal JUVE.
In awarding White & Case top honors, JUVE observed that "The German practice of White & Case is like a good wine. It improves with time, showing more depth." Pointing to the Firm's ability to "consistently enhance its indisputable strengths in bank finance and in the area of restructuring existing over a number of years," JUVE noted that "More recently, its loan finance practitioners proved to be more versatile in applying their legal skills and the members of the insolvency administration team drew the envy of competitors – the number and quality of their appointments is simply impressive."
JUVE singles out the Firm's corporate practice as a key success driver, noting that its lawyers concentrate in the automotive, energy and chemicals industries and highlighting its legal work on behalf of Clariant in connection with its acquisition of Süd-Chemie.
JUVE added that the Firm's management around Markus Hauptmann, Regional Section Head of White & Case in Germany and a mergers & acquisitions partner, significantly contributed to the practice's success "by consistently and prudently improving internal cooperation" and "by skillfully integrating additions and initiating a generational change." It went on to say that as a result, an increasing number of younger lawyers such as "Dr. Leila Röder, Dr. Benedikt Gillessen and Dr. Axel Pajunk have become genuine top performers."
"This award makes us very proud," says Hauptmann, "Credit is due to all our staff. But we also owe the award to our clients whose success and high-quality representation of interests is the most important benchmark and incentive for our development."
