The American Bar Association's Business Law Section has honored Sylvia Chin (New York) with its 2016 Jean Allard Glass Cutter Award. According to the ABA, the award is presented annually to an exceptional woman business lawyer who has:
• Made significant contributions to the profession and the ABA Business Law Section
• Achieved professional excellence in her field and demonstrated a dedication to the work of the section
• Worked to advance opportunities for other women in the profession and the Section
Chin's practice involves corporate and commercial financing with an emphasis on asset-based financing transactions. She has represented issuers and investors in high yield bond deals and debt private placements. In the areas of project financing and leveraged leases, she has also represented lenders, lessees, lessors and equity investors in leases involving aircraft, oil-drilling equipment, satellites and other equipment and in projects involving cogeneration, waste-to-energy, alternative energy, hydroelectric and manufacturing facilities. Chin is an adjunct associate professor at Fordham University School of Law and teaches Secured Transactions and Drafting and Negotiating Contracts.
