White & Case was awarded Infrastructure Journal's 'Global Legal Adviser of the Year' at an awards ceremony held in London on March 29, 2012.
The award recognises the Firm's leading position representing both banks and sponsors on a wide-range of complex, cross border transactions, across the oil and gas, power, renewables and transportation sectors.
"We have advised on a series of landmark transactions across a variety of regions and sectors over the last 12 months which reflect the strength of our global project finance practice," said Philip Stopford, partner and head of White & Case's Energy, Infrastructure, Project and Asset Finance Practice (EIPAF) in Western Europe, the Middle East and Africa. "It's a great privilege that our expertise has been recognised and we're proud to accept this award."
Leading transactions on which White & Case has advised in the last twelve months include: the US$10.3 billion Barzan Gas Project, the largest single financing project ever undertaken in the State of Qatar; the €8 billion Tours Bordeaux project in France, to connect the cities of Tours and Bordeaux through a high-speed rail link; the groundbreaking €8 billion Nord Stream Gas Pipeline project, comprising two 1,220-kilometer subsea offshore pipelines to link Russia and the European Union via the Baltic Sea and the Eco Tax project, an innovative €1.9 billion public-private partnership (PPP) to build and operate an electronic truck tolling system for French roads.
The Firm also collected the award for 'Legal Adviser in the Power Sector' with the publication citing White & Case's work advising Turkish lead arrangers on the 865MW Gebze CCGT Power Plant as particularly notable.
"The Firm has been involved in a variety of innovative deals in the power sector throughout the last year and it's particularly satisfying to receive recognition and these awards from a panel of industry experts," said Jason Kerr, a partner in the Firm's EIPAF practice.
The White & Case EIPAF team have received 22 'Deal of the Year' or 'Best Deal' accolades from a range of industry publications including Project Finance Magazine, Project Finance International, International Financial Law Review, Legal Business, Infrastructure Journal, Global Trade Review and Trade Finance over last few months.
In addition, the Firm was shortlisted for another 10 awards by Legal Business and Infrastructure Journal.
