White & Case was named 'Finnish Law Firm of the Year' at IFLR's European Awards at a ceremony held in London on April 10. The Firm was also recognized for advising on four 'deal of the year' awards, including collecting the 'M&A deal of the year' title for the third year running.
The Helsinki office was recognised for providing outstanding legal advice on some of the key cross-border capital markets, M&A and private equity deals in 2012. It's the fourth time the Firm has won the award, having collected it in 2011, 2006 and 2004.
The 'deal of the year' awards were given for the following deals:
Debt and equity linked deal of the year - Greek PSI: represented, as co-counsel, the Steering Committee of the Private Creditor/Investor Committee for Greece in respect of the second private sector involvement plan for the restructuring of €206 billion of Greek government debt.
Equity deal of the year - Megafon IPO: represented selling shareholder TeliaSonera in connection with the $1.7billion Initial Public Offering of Russian telecoms company MegaFon on the Russian MICEX-RTS exchange and London Stock Exchange.
High yield deal of the year - Fage Dairy financing: advised the indenture trustee on the additional senior notes issue by FAGE International S.A. and FAGE USA Dairy Industry, Inc., and the associated solicitation of consents from existing noteholders.
M&A deal of the year - Outokumpu/Inoxum: advised Outokumpu Oyj, a leading stainless steel producer based in Finland, on its acquisition of Inoxum, the stainless steel unit of German company ThyssenKrupp, valued at €2.7 billion.
The IFLR awards recognize innovation, quality and commitment to the development of legal services in Europe, with emphasis placed on complexity and market impact.
