Energy and infrastructure news and analysis service Proximo honored global law firm White & Case LLP's Latin America team three times in its Deals of the Year ceremony for work performed in 2019, held virtually on May 27.
The deals for which White & Case was honored were:
Latin America PPP Deal of the Year
White & Case advised on the groundbreaking financing for the national routes 2 and 7 road project in Paraguay, the largest private investment in the history of Paraguay. White & Case advised Sacyr Concesiones S.L. and Ocho A S.A., as sponsors, Rutas del Este S.A., as borrower, and Rutas 2 and 7 Finance Ltd., as issuer, in the financing for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the project. The project is Paraguay's first public-private partnership.
Latin America Oil & Gas Acquisition Deal of the Year
White & Case advised a syndicate of ten international and Brazilian banks on the financing of ENGIE S.A.'s and Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec's approximately US$8.6 billion acquisition of 90% of Transportadora Associada de Gás S.A. (TAG), the owner of an approximately 4,500 km natural gas pipeline network in Brazil, from Petróleo Brasileiro S.A.–Petrobras.
Latin America Power Refinancing Deal of the Year
White & Case advised Natixis, New York Branch; Citibank, N.A.; Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank; HSBC México, S.A. Institución de Banca Múltiple, Grupo Financiero HSBC and other lead banks in connection with the US$640 million project financing provided to Techgen, S.A. de C.V., for a natural gas-fired combined-cycle 900 MW electric power plant located in the Pesquería area of the State of Nuevo León, Mexico.

The Proximo Awards methodology “combines vast combined editorial expertise, deep research and market polling,” according to Proximo.
