
Intellectual property community and information service Patexia Inc. has named White & Case partner David M. Tennant (Washington, DC) the number 2 "Best-Performing Attorney" in representing inter-partes review (IPR) petitioners, based on Tennant’s success rate of 98 percent. Based on the same study, Patexia recently named White & Case "the best-performing law firm" for IPR based on a 96 percent IPR success rate.
Patexia selected its best-performing lawyers for IPR petitioners based on an analysis of 6,580 cases filed from September 2012 through the end of the second quarter in 2017, covering 3,100 lawyers on the petitioner side. The study was limited to cases that had been denied, settled, instituted or received the final written decision as of September 2017, and to lawyers who had been involved in a minimum of 40 cases over the period of study.
Tennant leads the Patent Office Practice in White & Case’s Washington, DC office. He has a successful track record of protecting and challenging patents in post-grant proceedings implemented under the America Invents Act. In patent procurement matters, David has extensive experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications, and he brings knowledge and insight to transactional matters, including patent licensing negotiations, technology agreement negotiations and service provider agreement negotiations. He also provides advice on patent invalidity, enforceability and infringement studies.
