Investing in EQT portfolio company IFS, an innovative provider of AI solutions
1 min read
Our role advising on this landmark transaction involving a consortium of leading private equity and sovereign investors underscores the scale of IFS's transformation into a global, AI-driven enterprise software leader and reflects the strength of our partnership with EQT and IFS through multiple strategic milestones
Client opportunity
Global investment firm EQT sought high-caliber long-term investors to back the next stage of development for its portfolio company, IFS. IFS is a market-leading provider of cloud enterprise software and industrial AI solutions with a strong history of sustained growth.
Over the past year, appetite for IFS's industrial AI offerings grew markedly, as companies in its core sectors—aerospace and defense, energy utilities and resources, construction and engineering, manufacturing, service industries and telecommunications—increasingly recognized the swift and meaningful impact that IFS.ai could have on their operations.
Our approach
Drawing on our integrated private equity platform and longstanding relationships with EQT and IFS, a cross-practice team of lawyers in London, Stockholm and Chicago worked together to guide the client through this complex transaction.
The Firm also applied its cutting-edge AI capabilities to support EQT and IFS as they navigated the legal, commercial and technical complexities of this fast-evolving technology.
Outcome
IFS achieved a valuation of more than €15 in a minority stake sale, following an investment from Hg, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and CPP Investments. In addition, Hg increased its stake to become a co-control shareholder alongside EQT, with TA Associates remaining as minority shareholder. IFS will continue to expand its capabilities with the industrial application of generative and agentic AI, enabling customers to automate workflows, improve efficiency and deliver exceptional service to their own customers.
