Global law firm White & Case LLP has promoted 24 lawyers to counsel and 15 lawyers to local partner.

"These 39 promotions across 22 offices and nine global practices demonstrate how truly global and diverse White & Case is," said White & Case Chair Hugh Verrier. "These lawyers have achieved success in their careers because they demonstrate exceptional ability, a consistent dedication to providing our clients with the highest standards of service and the commitment and energy to drive our Firm forward."

In addition to these internal promotions, White & Case has hired six counsel and ten local partners in 2020.

At White & Case, counsel is a role for senior lawyers with significant experience in a particular practice area. The title is used across the Firm, in all offices, as an alternative career path to partnership but does not preclude consideration for promotion to partner.

The position of local partner is offered in select White & Case regions and locations where it is common market practice including Mexico in the Americas; Belgium, Central & Eastern Europe, Germany, Italy, the Middle East, South Africa and Spain in EMEA; and China, Hong Kong, Japan and Korea in Asia-Pacific. It is a recognized career step toward admission into Firm partnership.

The promotions are effective January 1, 2021.
