Global law firm White & Case LLP has expanded its International Arbitration Practice in Asia-Pacific with the addition of Max Bonnell as a new partner in Sydney.
"White & Case is the leading law firm for international arbitration and our goal in Asia-Pacific, a growing market for international arbitration, is to expand the service we provide to our clients," said White & Case partner Paul Friedland, Global Head of the International Arbitration Practice. "Max is a top ranked lawyer and his reputation and market profile will be invaluable to the expansion of our arbitration practice in Asia-Pacific."
Bonnell joins White & Case from King & Wood Mallesons, where he was a partner for more than 18 years. His arrival supports the Firm's 2020 strategic focus on growth in disputes and he joins the Global International Arbitration Practice and the existing Asia-Pacific arbitration team. Bonnell is focused on international arbitration and commercial litigation, advising clients in multiple jurisdictions in telecommunications, mining, energy, financial services, engineering and computer software. His experience also includes more than a dozen arbitrations arising from disputes in India, and he is a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration.
"These are exciting times for our business in Australia and across the Asia-Pacific region," said White & Case partner Eric Berg, Head of Asia-Pacific. "We now have more than 40 lawyers in our Melbourne and Sydney offices and Max, a recognised leader in arbitration, brings a practice that fits naturally with our project finance focus in Australia and with our wider disputes practice across the Asia-Pacific region."
White & Case has the largest international arbitration practice of any law firm, with lawyers based in the key arbitral centres of New York, Washington, DC, London, Paris, Geneva, Stockholm and Singapore, combined with an on-the-ground capability in a number of other important locations. The team covers every jurisdiction, arbitral form and industry sector, advising global corporations, financial institutions, foreign investors and sovereign states. Legal directories including Chambers Global, The Legal 500 and Global Arbitration Review consistently rank the Firm's practice at the very top.
