Global law firm White & Case LLP has expanded its Global Mergers & Acquisitions Practice and Global Private Equity Industry Group with the addition of Emmie Jones as a new partner in London.
"London is the world's second largest legal market and, as White & Case continues to grow in line with our 2020 strategy, we're focused on building a leading private equity practice in London," said White & Case partner John Reiss, Head of the Firm's Global Mergers & Acquisitions Practice. "The addition of Emmie sends a clear message to the market that we're determined to continue growing our role advising the leading private equity firms and their portfolio companies on their most important, complex, cross-border matters."
Jones is a private equity lawyer who advises clients on the structuring, negotiation and execution of highly complex, cross-border private equity transactions across multiple sectors. She has advised on more than 150 deals with an aggregate enterprise value of more than £10 billion, and her experience includes both traditional cross-border private equity transactions and advisory work for portfolio companies. Jones was a partner at Macfarlanes, where she also trained, and brings more than 13 years of experience advising private equity sponsors, corporates and management teams on acquisitions, disposals, management equity deals and distressed situations.
"Emmie is a commercially-minded lawyer with a comprehensive understanding of the private equity sector and a strong reputation in the market – another exciting addition to our London private equity team following the recent arrival of Mike Weir," said White & Case partner John Cunningham, Regional Section Head, EMEA M&A/Private Equity. "We're very pleased to be joined by a lawyer of Emmie's calibre and experience, who was promoted to partner at Macfarlanes in April 2013. She adds further depth and breadth to our private equity team in London and, with client relationships that are an exciting fit with our current client portfolio, will play an important role in the ongoing institutionalisation and growth of our client base."
Oliver Brettle, London-based member of White & Case's global Executive Committee, said: "Our 2020 strategy includes a focus on profitable growth in London, in the global private equity industry and in mergers and acquisitions. The arrival of Emmie represents clear further progress in all three areas. She is the seventh partner we have announced joining us laterally in London in 2018 so far, adding to seven internal partner promotions that were effective on January 1, 2018."
