White & Case advises Bessemer Venture Partners and Atomico on The Exploration Company’s US$450 million Series C financing

Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Bessemer Venture Partners and Atomico on The Exploration Company's US$450 million Series C financing. The round was co-led by Bessemer Venture Partners, Atomico and the Scaleup Europe Fund, managed by EQT, with participation from existing European investors including Balderton, Plural, Cherry and Red River West.

"As the largest Series C raised by a European space company, the financing represents an important milestone for the company and for the continued development of Europe's space capabilities," said White & Case partner Norman Röchert, who co-led the Firm's deal team.

The Exploration Company is building the transportation layer for the space economy, with a focus on giving Europe sovereign capabilities to move cargo to orbit and return it safely to Earth. Its reusable, launcher-agnostic capsule is designed to serve the International Space Station and future commercial space stations by delivering payloads and bringing them back down.

The financing, which is subject to applicable regulatory approvals, will support the development of the company's reusable space transportation systems, including Nyx, its cargo spacecraft, and Storm, its high-thrust European rocket engine program.
