Global law firm White & Case LLP continues to expand its Global Capital Markets Practice with the arrival of Rupa Briggs as a partner in New York.

"Rupa's strong background advising issuers and underwriters in equity capital markets transactions will further add to the strength and depth of our Capital Markets practice," said Stuart Matty, Head of the Firm's Global Capital Markets Practice. "Her addition supports our active growth agenda for the practice, while further enhancing our ability to provide leading expertise in securities law to our domestic and international clients."

Briggs is an experienced securities lawyer who represents issuers and financial institutions in debt and equity capital markets transactions, with a particular focus on initial public offerings (IPOs), registered equity offerings, and public mergers and acquisitions. She also advises public companies on a broad range of disclosure, corporate governance and general corporate matters. Her expertise will also support the Firm's work advising public companies.

Briggs joins White & Case from Shearman & Sterling, where she advised companies on their compliance with US and international securities laws and listing requirements on major US exchanges.

"According to PwC, the value raised through IPOs in the first three quarters of 2018 was 46.5 percent greater than the same period last year, and three times that of 2016," said John Vetterli, White & Case's Head of Americas Capital Markets. "Against this backdrop, Rupa's US securities law experience will play a key role as we expand our transactional and public company advisory capabilities."
